Some of our sheds can be ordered as DIY shed kits for assembly on-site. If navigating a pre-built storage building in the backyard is not an option or if you like to assemble your shed yourself, then one of our shed kits might work perfectly for you.

NOTE: These shed kits are NOT recommended for the casual DIY'er! While a shed kit is less complicated than building from scratch, construction experience is HIGHLY recommended due to the complexity of the buildings and the physical nature of the assembly process.

Standard Workshop Shed Kits

Our most popular DIY storage shed kit, the Workshop style is the classic "gable" shed. Doors can be placed on the side or the end walls.

Classic Workshop Shed Kits

This DIY storage shed kit is the next step up. Upgraded doors and windows, plus roof overhangs are just a few of its notable features.

Standard MaxiBarn Shed Kits

The MaxiBarn is a classic "barn-style" DIY shed kit. The higher sidewalls allow for a maximum amount of overhead storage space.

Standard Saltbox Shed Kits

The "saltbox" roof style gives some extra flair to this storage shed. One key feature is the extra-wide overhang above the front double doors.

Standard MiniBarn Shed Kits

MiniBarns are our most economical DIY storage shed kit. The low gambrel roof makes this a great option for simple storage tasks.

Standard Garage Shed Kits

In addition to DIY storage shed kits, we also offer a Workshop single-car garage kit. Store one vehicle or several pieces of lawn equipment.

How much time will it take to assemble the storage shed building kit?

Erecting the shed kit should take one to three days depending on your level of expertise.

What do I need to build a barn or shed kit on my site?

We suggest the following tools for installing your DIY shed kit:

What if I have problems assembling the prefab kit?

Normally we try to help our customers as much as possible, especially if it is a matter of helping to figure out where certain material goes on the building. Keep in mind, you are responsible for correctly constructing the shed if you purchase a kit, but we can offer direction. (Prior construction experience is recommended.) If there is any uncertainty about whether or not you will be able to assemble the storage shed, consider one of our build-on-site options and we will send a team to assemble the building for you.

Does Sheds Unlimited offer 2 Story Sheds and Garages as Kits?

Unfortunately, we do not currently offer our larger buildings as customer assembled kits due to complexity of the buildings. However, if you are looking for a two-story prefab garage kit, we recommend speaking to one of our office staff to find out the price for Sheds Unlimited to come to your location to build a two-story shed or garage on site.

Single story garages can be bought as kits, but depending on the size we may recommend having our Prefab Garage Team assemble it for you.

How Much More is the Cost of a DIY Storage Shed Kit

DIY Storage Shed Kits are the same price as a regular shed. We simply partially assemble the shed kit and send it as a package for you to assemble. If you wish to have Sheds Unlimited assemble the shed kit for you there is an extra cost from 25% to 40% depending on the type of storage shed or prefab car garage you wish to purchase. The prefab cost is also added to any options on the building. In addition, there may be extra storage shed kit shipping charges depending on your location.

When to Choose a DIY Storage Shed Kit?

• If your storage shed site is inaccessible
• If you simply love working with your hands
• In some cases, to reduce storage shed delivery charges. (For example, when purchasing sheds in Long Island, NY, you may save with a shed kit.)

• Fully assembled sheds and shed kits are typically the same price. This is due to the fact that storage shed kits from Sheds Unlimited are fully assembled in the manufacturing facility.
• Our "do-it-yourself" storage shed kits are pre-assembled in our shop. The walls are temporarily put together as though the building was to be delivered as a unit. This allows us to paint the garden shed kit and ensure that all parts are properly assembled. Since each DIY storage shed kit is painted in our facility, it should only need some touch up paint after it is assembled on your property.
• We offer large shed kits as well as small barn kits. On the smaller storage shed kits, the floor may be partially constructed to make the job even easier.
